about jon…

Jon grew up in northern Iowa and fled to Minneapolis area for college (Crown College & McNally-Smith College of Music). Throughout high school and college, he led worship and played on worship teams in very small and very large churches. In the late 90s, Jon found himself in Ohio. He met Shannon and he tricked her into marrying him in 2001. Currently, they have a boy and girl, Aedan 5 & Addison 3 and live in the Mansfield, OH area.

Jon lives each week what he teaches other churches. He is the worship/music pastor of Heartland Church, a church with campuses in Lexington and North Woodbury. He loves the challenge of developing musicians and teams for two campuses (but also wakes up some nights in a cold sweat).

WorshipTeamCoach.com…

…is a service to local church worship ministries. It came out of Jon’s experience as a worship leader and guitarist in smaller and mid-size churches.

The lack of finances, musicians and leadership causes many churches to accept a lower standard of music and ministry, in many different sized churches. Now as a worship pastor of a multi-campus church, Jon continually works to find innovative ways to overcome these barriers. And he loves dreaming with leaders on how they can overcome their ministries barriers, no matter their size or situation.

Drop Jon an e-mail sometime to talk about your ministry.

WorshipGuitarWorkshop.com…

…is a resource solely for guitarists, because let’s face – we’re the best instrument in the band. That, and sometimes we need the most help. An offshoot of WorshipTeamCoach.com, WGW is geared to help acoustic and electric guitarists to fulfill their unique roles in the band. Jon’s approach is to take what players already know and build on it in practical ways. He’s been playing on and leading worship teams since Lord I Lift Your Name On High was all the rage. The past two decades given Jon an understanding what players need to grow in skill and musicianship. And he just loves hanging out with guitar players.
