I love the nurturing part of the worship teams. In the past myself and one of our women leaders would connect on a weekly basis outside of church. It was a time of rich and wonderful growth for both of us. Life has gotten busy and crazy and its been a while since we have [...]

I know exactly what you are saying about hearing about others having similar struggles. When I first started, I thought it was just me! -

@jcruefer It sounds like your rehearsal focus has been exactly the same as ours. We basically pray at the beginning, mostly for the rehearsal and the Sunday service, then we focus on the music. I’d love to be able to have a more spiritually-focused rehearsal where we spend more time caring for each other and actually [...]

@poisonivy77 I really like what you said about letting people have their own time with God and letting the Holy Spirit lead their thoughts rather than talking a lot between songs. It sounds like you’ve learned something really valuable! I don’t have too much trouble in this area only because I don’t really like speaking in [...]

I learned most about rehearsing and leading a set. I love Sunday mornings, but I find rehearsals quite stressful and exhausting, so it was really helpful to think about the reasons why rehearsals are stressful. I think that restricting song and arrangement choices to those that are relatively simple and easy to pick up is [...]

- I’ve tried nurturing my team musically and spiritually. We meet regularly for a prayer meeting and when we meet, I encourage my members to share how God works in and through their life. When we share God’s story in our life, I believe that we can envision and sense God’s grace and God’s character [...]

What you said about leading men is interesting. I’ve never thought about that before. But I’ve sometimes thought that those with better musical abilities might find it difficult to have me as the leader. It’s taken me a long time to build up confidence in that area. -

Basically, it touched a little bit of every area, but personally, the area that taught me most is the “Moving Through A Set” in the Leading a Set section. Dan mentioned about “Letting the songs lead” and that moved me so much. I prepare a set and practice the songs, and have a personal intimate [...]

Part 1: These roles come naturally: – Priestly (building bridges for people to connect with God) – Storyteller (retelling the realities of the Kingdom in music) – Pastor (relationally nurturing our teams, communities) – Prophetic (challenging Christians to go to new edges in their faith) – Administrative (organizing worship, planning, details, events) So, I need [...]

- Jake It seems like you are serving in youth ministry. And if you are a good storyteller, that’s great. I think one of the most important things for young generation is to tell the story. The story that tells about our Father’s heart, Father’s dream for us, and Father’s vision for us. I believe [...]

- Nanell Neal It is very great that you have a desire to bring people to have an intimate relationship with our Lord. Actually, it is one of the roles as a leader, but it’s not an easy thing to do for people like me. I don’t know if I’m not gifted that way, but [...]

Wow! I can really relate to feeling so many times that I wasn’t really the right person for this role, but the Lord was gracious and provided confirmation for me every time I thought about quitting.

It was one of the those funny moments just after the service on Sunday…the worship leader turned to me and said, “Do you think you could lead worship next Sunday?” I had just joined the worship team a few weeks before and I’d never led worship in a church. I had been a team member [...]

PART 1 I think the Priest, Teacher, Storyteller, Prophetic, Administrative role come more naturally to me. And I know that Pastor and Intercessory role are a little hard for me. I’ve been praying that I would have Father’s heart in me so that I can pray for others (teams and congregations) and shepherd them. (Pastoral [...]

-fredhaskell I totally agree with you. One of the greatest value that I as a worship leader must pursue is to trust God and He would use me. Being called and used by God is not because I am good at music or equipped and ready to be a leader, but because I trusted in [...]
