For: Essentials in Worship theology
While reading in this session, the image of #GodAsCreator absolutely blew my mind. I had never imagined him creating all of the universe in a similar way, having a similar mindset as me while I create. I become somewhat Giddy while creating. It’s an adventure of sorts while painting. Not only is God just a painter of the sunset, but I’m beginning to fully understand him to be the “Originator of Light, time, matter, energy, stars, galaxies, mathematics, microorganisms, sound, narwhals, rock strata, canyons, flies and venus fly traps…”(Wilt, Essentials in Worship Theology). This God took time to create me. And I, in myself, am an amazement. From my blinking eye, to the memories stored inside my brain, to my ever beating heart, to the cells continually multiplying, God breathed into me life. I am a masterpiece that is sure.
As I begin to fully understand this, I begin to realize my purpose to worship him. How could I have any other response?
“Hallelujah! You who serve God, praise God!
Just to speak his name is praise!
Just to remember God is a blessing—
now and tomorrow and always.
From east to west, from dawn to dusk,
keep lifting all your praises to God!
4-9 God is higher than anything and anyone,
outshining everything you can see in the skies.
Who can compare with God, our God,
so majestically enthroned,
Surveying his magnificent
heavens and earth?
He picks up the poor from out of the dirt,
rescues the wretched who’ve been thrown out with the trash,
Seats them among the honored guests,
a place of honor among the brightest and best.”
Psalm 113 (MSG)
