Are You Living In Your Element?

  1. There is nothing like that sense that the thing that I am doing at this particular moment is what God has called me to. It’s that sense of the anointing and joy that fills your heart. Finding your passion in life and finding that it was what God intended for you all along.

  2. I understand using the “elements” as metaphors and analogies, but they were given the same properties as those who study the occult. Alchemy and the esoteric arts also relate them this way. Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Spirit are the five essence of Wicca and New Age thought and it gave me a flashback to my New Age past. For a moment I thought I was listening to a Helena Blavatsky teaching.

  3. Hi, Dan. I need to voice my concern with this as it created quite a stumbling block for my team. Please clarify…. where does all this come from in the context of Biblical teaching? Where have you stated that all of this is your own interpretation and not a definitive God-given point of view? Thank you in advance.

  4. Dan, I am tracking with the above comments. You lost me a bit on this one. Spiritual formation involves dying to self and walking in the Spirit of God, for there is nothing good in us, but with Christ we can do all things. I am grateful today that my identity is found totally in Him. Not sure I really heard that “element” in this teaching. Sorry for the pun :-) For illustrative purposes, some of this material may be helpful (as I am sure was your intent). It would be interesting to hear the biblical basis for this that Jodi asks for above. My specific answer to your question in the training: I don’t believe that I live in “my” element, but have exchanged that “dead man walking” element of my former life for a resurrected one. I believe that I am a citizen of heaven and the life I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loves me and gave Himself up for me. (Gal. 2:20)

  5. By the way, my above comments are addressed by you in your training on “What is Spiritual Formation?” So I appreciate how you teach and believe the “death to self and life in Christ concept”. Thanks for that perspective there!
