While I have been writing songs all of my life and have been called the human song machine since I could write a song about anything in less than 5 minutes, I have never written a worship song. I have been a fence sitter in my relationship with God. It is only in the last year since I became a worship leader that I have had to evaluate my faith. Practice what I preach so to speak. God placed me in this position precisely for me to do this. He is so much smarter than I am about what I need.
I was inspired to write this song when I watched “The Passion” again with believing eyes. I was struck by the betrayal of Judas and the denial of Peter. The adoring crowds when Jesus entered Jerusalem who wanted him crucified in less than a week. I thought would I be strong enough to stand by Jesus? I doubt it. I have been too weak to stand by people when the stakes were much less.
The amazing thing is Christ is always ready to forgive. The amazing Grace never ends!
Anyway this song is by no means complete. I am hoping that I am on the right track here, but I could use some feed back. Does convey the message? Does it glorify HIM and connect you to HIM?
The Denial
I abandoned him I betrayed him
I have forsaken Him and I Denied Him
Chorus 1
But still he forgave and rose from the grave
And I will believe
In His eternity
Verse 2
Lost in the desert for forty days
Alone to fight the enemy’s way
Champion of the weak and poor
The SON is shining, just open the door
Chorus 1/ Chorus 2
Jesus Lord my savior
Jesus Lord our savior
Jesus Lord Alone
Messiah
Verse 3
I cried out in fear and pain
And hid from him my sins and shame
And his answer was always the same
Follow him who has no blame
Chorus 1/2 x2

Great song!
