This is the final draft of the song I have worked on as part of the Essentials in Worship Songwriting class.  The song was originally titled, Again Today.  The process of an idea becoming completed song is much more involved than I realized when I began the class.  I am happy with the results of my re-writes.  I am sure that I could continue to work to make the song better.  But, I do believe that progress was made from my first draft to its current state.

The song is extremely personal, but I hope others can relate to it in some way.  Even as I mature as a Christian, I find myself praying about a situation but never completely surrendering the anxiety associated with it.  Part of me wants to hang on for the sake of control.  I have learned that peace comes only when I allow Him to carry my burden.

Thank you for listening.  I appreciate any feedback!

    1. Dawn,

I love how humble and real the lyrics are – it is very Psalm-like in that way. it is written from in the middle of the struggle/trial. I think God meets us in that struggle.

It would be a great response song and would minister well so someone who is still in the dark even though they know about the greatness of God and his unfailing love.

Musically the tune in memorable and interesting. Very singable. I know some guitarists will not like it in F, but that is why God made capos.

If I were arranging it for our band, I might try it a bit faster. Just a little bit so we could get a good groove going on the drums and bass. I think the melody would still be singable.

It is also perfect as a benediction song following a message about seeing God in the midst of trials.

      Great job.

      JR
